Playmates 2014 – Company Update

This week, Playmates Illawarra returns for its ninth annual improvisation showcase representing several key theatre and performance groups in the area. It’s a night of friendship, celebration, and promoting the strength and diversity of performing arts in Illawarra.

Unfortunately, the team from Illawarra Youth Arts Project won’t be joining us this year. With an exciting and ambitious 2015 season looming, and with work frantically underway, their core team has opted to return bigger and stronger another year.

After a successful season of High School Musical recently, IYAP is currently running auditions for their next big showcase Camp Rock as well as preparing for a 2015 season featuring the musical Fame, workshops, art exhibitions and the Jigsaw Project). From all the five companies involved and from the producer, we all wish IYAP great success in their upcoming season, and we hope to see you on the Playmates stage in the future. To check out what IYAP have cooking, visit their website www.illawarrayouthartsproject.org.

The remaining teams enjoyed the sunshine in yesterday’s Training Day, and we have a great ensemble of actors who are set to fire up for the inter-company improvisation challenge, and they are looking forward to sharing the fun with the audience. Check out this short clip from the Training Day. The Drama Studio featuring Sam Lovell from the Roo Theatre team play out their improvised Song challenge in “Shake That Thang (Woof Woof)”.
