COVID Vaccination Requirements | Audience and Artists
Short+Sweet Illawarra will be focused on complying with all instructions issued by NSW Health and also our host venue’s rules in regards to audience and artists requiring to have received two COVID vaccines.
As such, we do ask that our guests have received two doses of COVID vaccine, please have your vaccine certificate ready for us at the box office. You will also need to sign in using your QR scanner to our venues. If you have a medical exemption, please also provide a note from your GP to confirm.
Masks are to be worn at all times in our festival venues.

The Best Film as voted by judges advances directly to the Gala Finals

FILM FESTIVAL HEAT SEASON (Semi Finals)
Each Film Festival heat features a selection of ten films from Illawarra, Australian and International filmmakers. The Heat Season is made up of 27 of our highest rated films submitted which advance directly to the semi-final round, joining the 3 films that advanced from our Wildcards finals.
Our audience will select their favourite Illawarra, Australian and International films from each heat, which will advance to to GALA FINALS along with the best film from each heat as voted by industry judges.
Audience voting between our Wollongong and Nowra heat screenings will combine to determine the films that progress.

FILM FESTIVAL GALA FINALS: WOLLONGONG SEASON
The Gala Finals feature the best films as voted by our audience and expert judges – the final 14 out of the 50 films that made up the 2021 Short+Sweet Illawarra Film Festival.
Our Audience and industry judges will decide which films will be voted as Best Film (Judges) and People’s Choice Winner (audience). As well as the best films from the Illawarra, Australia and our overall best international film.
Featuring:
+ Judges Selection: The three films as voted by judges to be the best film of each Heat
+ Audience Selection: Nine films voted as best in their heat’s category (Illawarra, Australian, International films).
+ Wildcard Best Film – The film voted as Best Wildcard film as voted by judges.
+ Festival Director’s Pick: One film selected by the Festival Director (Wildcards or Heats)
